Leadership Notes [Feb 13, 2019]

Mammoth Lakes is located in the central Sierra Mountain range of California. It

is near Yosemite National Park. Beautiful area. My wife and I honeymooned in

Yosemite. In my youth, I had been in and through that area numerous times.

Breathtaking, rugged and unspoiled come to mind. It was a blessing to be able to

enjoy that slice of God's good creation.

I read an article the other day announcing how far Mammoth Ski Resort was

extending their season in 2019. Skiers and snowboarders can schuss and whoosh

up to and possibly beyond July 4. They have had 440 inches of snow this season.

They have 250 inches of packed snow. And as of today, another 2-5 feet are

expected. If you love snow, you are living in the wrong part of the country.

Meanwhile, my brother, who lives in Carlsbad, California, texted me one

morning last week to complain of the cold. It was 40° when he walked his dogs.

What does all this have to do with life here in Michigan? Not much, except this

has been a crazy winter. Through it all {and we still have one month left} you have

been faithful in worship and ministry. We are made for worship. That is the most

important thing we do together. It is a beautiful sight and sound when God's

people come together for worship. It is a blessing and honor to participate with you in doing something that is not about us, but is about the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let the snow fall...let the wind blow...let the temperatures drop...Covenant Church loves to worship.

Be of Good Cheer,

Richard

P.S. Except for 2-5 feet of snow, in a 24-hour period. If that happened, I don't

know what we would do. I don't want to know what we would do. Would I still be

of good cheer?...
