Director of Youth and Family Ministies Job Description

Purpose:

To plan, implement, and oversee the Christian Education and Youth Ministry programs of Covenant Church. This includes children's Sunday School, Jr./Sr. High Youth ministry, Vacation Bible School and any other related events. The Director will build a program through strong relationships with teachers, students, parents, and church leaders. They shall desire that all grow in faith and service to Jesus Christ through Covenant Church.

Responsibilities {Including but not limited to}:

Build, coordinate, and implement a children's Sunday morning program for both churched and unchurched families.

Direct or oversee VBS.

Working with key volunteers, lead Sunday evening Jr./Sr. High Ministry.

Involve youth and adults in outreach and service programs

Connect with youth through activities outside of church, including recognizing when need for pastoral care might arise.

Develop and prepare the budget for the Children and Youth Ministry.

Ensure that the Ministry is aligned with the mission and vision of Covenant Church.

Communicate and publish all activities/events through newsletters, bulletins, emails, webpage and other social media as needed. Also help out with social media by publishing inspirational devotional videos and weekly verses.

Possible summer monthly church body building event (potluck outside, youth games, short bible study with those who come) and monthly/bi-monthly, fall/winter/spring body building events.

Anything else appropriately and reasonable assigned by the Head of Staff.

Qualifications:

The Director will have education/experience teaching and working with children. The Director will have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, as expressed by the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. The Director will have a teachable spirit. The Director will have a desire to nurture Christian faith in children and youth, as well as adult volunteers. The Director will have an understanding of child development and age-appropriate learning skills.

Working Environment:

This position is part-time, 10-20 hours, with flexible hours. The fixed part of the schedule includes:

Sunday morning/evening. This would involve worship team, kids corner (name is TBD), and the night youth group is decided on.

Fourth Thursday evening of the month {Session meeting}.

Accountability:

The Director reports to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff. Performance review will be conducted annually. The Director will be provided with a copy of the Covenant Church Personnel Policy as well as the Child Safety Policy. A background check is required for this position.
