Blessed to Serve

August 13, 2025

Leadership Notes

On Monday {August 11}, while relaxing after breakfast, we had our Pandora Radio contemporary Christian music streaming. “Believe For It” by CeCe Winans was playing. Love that song. Here are some selected lyrics:

They say this mountain can't be moved

They say these chains will never break

But they don't know You like we do

Move the immovable

Break the unbreakable

God, we believe

God, we believe for it

From the impossible

We'll see a miracle

God, we believe

God, we believe for it

You are the way when there seems to be no way

We trust in You, God, You have the final say

You have the final say

You said it

I believe it

You said it

It is done

Just because You said it

(I believe) I can trust You with it

(You said) Just because You said it

(It is done) I can trust You with it

So it's done

Yes, Lord

God, we believe for it

So, as this beautiful, affirming, positive song is playing, I get a text from Lorie Easton. To say it set the tone for a lovely day is an understatement. Here’s what Lorie wrote:

“Good Morning Richard! Just wanted to give you an update on the Backpack Blowout ministry yesterday!...We were blessed to serve 108 children with backpacks, school, and hygiene supplies. I am meeting someone at the church this morning that wasn’t able to make is yesterday, so most likely that number will move to 109! And we had 172 total people come through our doors yesterday {students, their parents, siblings, and grandparents}, so it was a great turnout!! A lot of happy little faces!! Love this community outreach we’re able to do because of so much generosity within our Church!! So very blessed…For the few supplies remaining, I will be reaching out to Catherine Cobb Safe House to see if they have children in need of backpacks to start school…They were overwhelmed with joy last year when we took some to them for children currently being housed under their roof…”

We praise God for what He is doing through His church. Jesus has saved us to be a blessing to our community. Thank you for always trusting God to do great things through Covenant Church.

And now, your Moment of Spurgeon:

“You will pray well when you can mention the loving kindnesses

of the Lord.”

     With Much Love and Affection,

                  Richard
